Built in 1978, Unthank Plaza was made in dedication to DeNorval Unthank. He was the first black physician in Portland in the early 1930's recognized for his humanitarian efforts and being named a co-founded of Urban League. Built in his honor, Unthank Plaza is a four-story community that has 80 units designed for Senior and Disabled Living. Located in the North Williams District on the corner of Williams, Russel and Sacramento St., Unthank Plaza is near shopping, restaurants, city events and public transit.
